Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds (680g) ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 Portobello mushroom cap
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 eggs
  • Desired toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, pickles, etc.)
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, etc.)

Directions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  2. Remove the stem from the Portobello mushroom cap and gently scrape out the gills with a spoon. Brush the mushroom cap with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Gently mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. Be careful not to overmix, as it can make the burgers tough.
  4. Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.
  5. Place the burger patties and the Portobello mushroom cap on the preheated grill. Cook the burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness. Cook the mushroom cap for about 4-5 minutes per side until tender.
  6. While the burgers and mushroom are cooking, lightly toast the hamburger buns on the grill until they are warmed and slightly crispy.
  7. In a separate pan, fry the eggs to your desired doneness (usually sunny-side-up or over-easy).
  8. Once the burgers and mushroom are cooked to your desired doneness, remove them from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes.
  9. Assemble your ultimate grilled burgers by placing each patty on a toasted bun. Top each patty with the grilled Portobello mushroom, a fried egg, and your preferred toppings and condiments.
  10. Serve the burgers immediately and enjoy!

Note: Feel free to customize your ultimate grilled burgers further by adding bacon, sautéed onions, cheese, or any other toppings you desire. Pair them with a side of fries or a fresh salad for a complete and satisfying meal. Get ready to relish the combination of juicy beef, savory Portobello mushroom, and a delightful fried egg in your ultimate grilled burger!
