Ingredients

  • Sushi rice
  • Nori sheets (seaweed)
  • Fresh fish or cooked seafood (such as tuna, salmon, shrimp, or crab)
  • Vegetables (such as cucumber, avocado, or carrot)
  • Soy sauce
  • Wasabi (optional)
  • Pickled ginger (optional)

Directions

  1. Cook the sushi rice according to the package instructions. This typically takes about 20-25 minutes. Once cooked, let it cool to room temperature.
  2. Prepare your ingredients by slicing the fish or seafood into thin strips and cutting the vegetables into matchstick-sized pieces.
  3. Place a bamboo sushi mat on a clean surface and put a sheet of nori on top of it.
  4. Moisten your hands with water to prevent the rice from sticking. Take a handful of sushi rice and spread it evenly over the nori, leaving about a 1-inch border at the top.
  5. Arrange your desired fillings (fish/seafood and vegetables) in a line across the rice, slightly off-center.
  6. Starting from the edge closest to you, roll the sushi tightly using the bamboo mat. Apply gentle pressure to ensure a compact roll.
  7. Once the roll is complete, wet a sharp knife and slice the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces. Wipe the knife clean between each cut for neat slices.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients to make more sushi rolls.
  9. Serve the sushi rolls with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side. Dip the sushi pieces in soy sauce and enjoy!

Note: You can get creative with your sushi fillings. Feel free to experiment with different combinations of fish, seafood, and vegetables to suit your taste preferences.
